FREE ADMISSION RENY BAO 包峻睿 Saxophone · Voice · Composition · Contemporary Jazz Reny Bao is one of the young leading figures on the contemporary jazz scene in China. A saxophonist, singer and composer, he develops a musical approach that connects jazz with the new Asian music scene. He studied at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music and later at the Aaron Copland School of Music in New York, where he worked with renowned musicians and educators such as Antonio Hart, David Berkman and Tim Armacost. His international career includes performances at major festivals in China, France, Japan, South Korea, Russia and the United States, including the JZ Shanghai Music Festival, Jazz à Juan, Kanazawa Jazz Festival, Hiroshima Jazz & Peace Festival and Seoul Forest Jazz Festival. He has received the Best Original Jazz Composition Award and the Gold Prize for Saxophone Performance at the Shanghai Jazz Competition. In addition to his work as a musician and composer, he has appeared on major Chinese television programs such as The Voice of China, I Am a Singer-Songwriter and Masked Singer, and has collaborated with prominent jazz and popular music artists from Asia and Europe. In 2021, he released his first jazz album, Beginning of Spring – Li Chun, and in 2025 he presented his first vocal jazz album, Half Live Recording at JZ Club. He is currently an artist for JZ Music, Yamaha Young Artist and D’Addario Artist, as well as an ambassador for several international brands of musical instruments and accessories. One of the most exciting young voices in contemporary Chinese jazz, with an international outlook and a musical approach that brings together tradition, modernity and improvisation.
