“Speaking Tango” is the innovative musical project of renowned Argentine percussionist and composer Minino Garay, combining spoken poetry with the captivating rhythms of tango and jazz to create a unique fusion that transcends traditional musical boundaries. The project not only pays tribute to the rich cultural heritage of Argentine tango, but also explores the intersections between poetry, jazz, and the spoken word. The carefully selected words in “Speaking Tango” span centuries and evoke themes of love, eroticism, politics, and everyday life. The album weaves together verses by poets such as Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer, Baldomero Fernández Moreno, and Catulo Castillo, along with contributions from contemporary collaborators such as Adriana Cattanio and Eduardo Torezani. ABOUT THE ALBUM: Recorded between Paris and Buenos Aires, mixed in New York under the joint artistic direction of Garay and Philippe Teissier Du Cros, and released by Sunnyside Records, the album is a transatlantic musical journey featuring an all-star lineup of musicians, including Pipi Piazzola, Manu Codjia, Leo Genovese, André Ceccarelli, Christophe Wallemme, Flavio Romero, Hernán Jacinto, Melingo, David Linx, and Magic Malik.
