Hania Derej Trio is a new project by composer and pianist Hania Derej, in which she combines her previous influences and creates something new based on her most recent experiences. The trio’s music is rooted in electronic jazz and elements of neoclassical music. It alternates moments of high intensity, strong emotions and controlled chaos with fragments of beautiful and captivating melodies, complemented by a good dose of ostinato and repetition. Her music has always been autobiographical, enriched by her encounters, travels and artistic experimentation. The trio’s first album speaks about the struggles of life, the constant striving, dilemmas and ups and downs that affect everyone. This musical project has already performed at major European festivals, including OFF Festival, Pol’and Rock, Riga Music Week, Polish Jazz Festival in Budapest, Music Week Poland and Iceland Airwaves. The album will be released in 2027, promoted by two European tours. The band has also performed at some of the world’s biggest showcase festivals, such as ESNS (Groningen, the Netherlands) and SWSX (Austin, USA).
