WIND STRINGS SKINS is a new global jazz trio offering a fresh perspective on contemporary improvisation. The project brings together Volker Goetze, Chano Domínguez, and Mino Cinelu, three artists whose careers span continents, cultures, and musical traditions. Chano Domínguez is internationally recognized for his innovative approach to the meeting point between flamenco and jazz, as well as for his collaborations with artists such as Wynton Marsalis, Paquito D’Rivera, and Tomatito. Mino Cinelu, meanwhile, has left a profound mark on contemporary jazz through his work with figures such as Miles Davis, Weather Report, Herbie Hancock, Sting, and Pat Metheny. Their music combines Afro-Caribbean rhythms, the emotional depth of flamenco, and the language of modern jazz, creating a vibrant, open, and borderless musical experience. Volker Goetze’s work has been praised by critics for its expressiveness and depth. Together with Domínguez and Cinelu, he has developed a distinctive musical language rooted in improvisation, dialogue, and the meeting of cultures. WIND STRINGS SKINS represents a new voice within global jazz: a bold and cross-disciplinary project that brings contemporary improvisation to new audiences. The project has received a 2026 Chamber Music America grant, as part of the Empowerment for Impact & Growth program, funded by the Doris Duke Foundation.
