Contemporary jazz without borders

Madrid-born pianist and composer Álvaro Torres, one of the emerging voices in New York’s creative jazz scene, comes to El Club del Disco Barcelona to present Mairena, his fifth album as a bandleader, released by Fresh Sound Records.

Blending the energy of post-bop, the freedom of improvisation and the roots of Spanish folk music, Torres creates an original musical universe rich in nuance, artistic risk and sensitivity. His international journey and collaborations with leading figures in contemporary jazz have shaped a distinctive sound that defies labels and explores new musical territory.

For this performance, he will be joined by two exceptional musicians: Japanese double bassist Masa Kamaguchi, celebrated for his warm tone and innovative approach, and Cuban drummer Francisco Mela, who has performed and recorded with major figures in international jazz, including Joe Lovano, Kenny Barron and McCoy Tyner.

An opportunity to experience bold, open-minded and deeply expressive jazz live, performed by three musicians with an extraordinary ability to listen, interact and improvise.
